About

Preston Stahly

Portraiture and headshots, for me, are a collaboration — a shared space where personality, and story come into focus. Whether the images are for artist bios, casting, social media, or professional use, my aim is to capture your energy with honesty and nuance, creating portraits that feel compelling, grounded, and alive.

The Corona Portraits Project began in 2020, when daily life in my West Harlem neighborhood was abruptly transformed by the pandemic. I was struck by the resilience and quiet humanity on the faces of strangers navigating an unimaginable moment. Compelled to document this, I began photographing people on the street — a practice that grew into an ongoing series of street portraits. That experience reshaped my approach to photography and deepened my connection to the human spirit.

Astrophotography is another foundation of my work, offering a different dimension of belonging — a chance to engage with the vastness of the cosmos through visual and musical expression. My photography and multimedia work have been presented by the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York, The Cell Theater, SoHo Photo Gallery, the Tribeca New Music Festival, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Merkin Concert Hall, and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in San Diego.

I invite you to explore the images on this site and reach out through the contact page with any questions or ideas. I’d love to hear from you.
